So I get a phone call from a friend of mine not too long ago. It turns out that she is engaged to the love of her life and now wants to have some pics done. She asked me if I would be willing to take her pictures. Of course I said: "Yes I would be honored to take your pictures."

We met at the Nisku Inn and decided to take most of the pics at the little waterfall that they have in their lobby area. It was a nice little place and I was so happy for them. They are just so happy together.

On June 19th 2010 two beautiful people were united in the wonderful bonds of marriage. Jessica and Chris were referred to us by a mutual friend and we were very honored to be the photographers for this wonderful day. Congratulations you guys and we hope that you have a wonderful life together.

R.I.P Fort Hotel

Well, at 2:30pm today I was out for a walk with two of my monkeys when I get a message from a friend of mine. He informed me that the historical Fort Hotel was on fire and burning down. As me, Sydney and Jacob were out and still about 4 blocks away from the house, I asked him to make sure and let me know because if it was, I was going down to get some pics. He never got back to me, so I just went down as soon as I got home from the walk.

Now for those of you that don't live here or just don't know what hotel I am talking about, I will tell you. The Fort Hotel is one of two hotels in the downtown core of Fort Saskatchewan, and it is the oldest hotel in Fort Saskatchewan. It was originally built in 1890 and was called the Queen’s Hotel. In 1913 it burnt down as it was only built of wood. The hotel was rebuilt out of brick and back open for business later that year. The name was changed to the Fort Hotel in 1933 as has been that way ever since.

When I was 19 and me and Jenn (my wife) had just gotten together, I started to work there as a doorman/security. As well, I remember going there and attending many a party after work at my current job.

The Fort Hotel will be missed by the entire community.

POOK shoot

While we were out finishing our Christmas shopping at West Edmonton mall, we went to the POOK kiosk to see what they had. Low and behold who happened to be there but Tony Pook himself, the inventor of the POOK TOQUE and other POOK accessories. Some of you may remember him from the CBC show DRAGON'S DEN. They were on season 4 episode 11. You can watch the episode at the following link:

While we were talking to him we happened to mention that we were starting to break into the professional photography world and if he needed any photos taken then to give us a call. What happened next made me and Jenn almost go speechless. He hired us on the spot to take photos of his new store that he had just opened in Edmonton's City Center mall. We took the job and here is some of what we gave him.

It was interesting doing commercial photography for the first time. Isaac took the pictures and Jenn directed the shoot, and we think everything turned out pretty well. Another feather in the cap for Fire & Ice!

Family Ties, Knots, And Other Such Stuff....

My sister asked me to do a few pics for her, my neice Kayleigh, and boyfriend Shawn, and how could I say no? So I shot them in my basement, and the pics turned out great. Here's a look....

My neice is such a photogenic kid, but not much for posing, so I told her to just be crazy and this is what I got......

Did I mention that this wonderful family is now being "officially" blended? Shannon and Shawn are now officially engaged, and I couldn't be happier for them, and for Kayleigh. What a beautiful family!

Congrats Physiotherapy Grads!

We got the opportunity to have a lot of fun with this shoot - set up our backdrop, and take a bunch of formal photos for the 2010 U of A Physiotherapy Grad. It was a lot of fun, we learned a ton, got some great exposure, and got to shoot a bunch of gorgeous grads! Really, there was not a bad looking one in the bunch! Here's a few of our best..... Thanks again Kylie for having faith in us!

First Loves......

Well, this was the amazing couple that thrusted us into pro clicking. They were INCREDIBLE to work with, and not just because they were our first wedding. The bride and groom had incredible chemistry, and everyone had a super sense of humor. We hope these pictures were everything you hoped they would be, Mr. and Mrs. Myers!

New Beginnings....

I was the lucky one who got to fly solo on this shoot. The soon-to be Mr. & Mrs. Myers and I went out to a park in town just after a slight rainstorm. They smiled, they kissed, and they even climbed through the bushes for me. Go Kailey and Kris, you guys were so much fun to shoot!

A Black & White Affair......

We were fortunate enough this August to be able to "get our feet wet" with photographing weddings. Isaac's sister Jenifer and her husband Dion tied the knot on August 15th, and we were there to capture all of it!

Excuse Me, While I Kiss This Guy...

...He's so damned cute I don't know how I couldn't, a million times! Maybe I'm biased, but I think my son Ethan is one of the most beautiful newborns I've ever seen, right from the top of his red head to his wrinkly little toes. I realized time is slipping away, as it does faster and faster with each baby it seems, and I wanted to get some newborn pictures done before he's too big to look "newborn" anymore. Lareina offered to do the shoot for me, because really, I think, Auntie Reina was just looking for an excuse to snuggle my fusser! Her pictures are gonna make mine look like they were taken on a Polaroid, I'm sure, but it was a blast just to be able to shoot alongside her.

Getting prepped for the basket pics - he peed on her backdrop! So I gave her one of my stinky garbage bags to take it home in. I'll buy you some laundry soap, Reina.

Startle reflex! I love this, one of the few things about the newborn stage I'll miss!

I never realized how red his hair truly is until we sat him on the white background!

He was not a fan of this sheepskin, the fuzz kept sticking to his toes, lol

I tried to get naked shots, but all mine turned out blurry. *whine*

And of course, the Bug HAD to be in some of the pictures.

On the 29th very, very good friends of ours welcomed their 3rd baby. A little boy 8lbs 3oz and 18.5 inches long. Congratulations to Phil and Stacy on your new arrival, we hope everything is as great with Malcolm as it has been with both the other two.
